DA Hike 2026: The Union Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance, leading to a hike in salaries and pensions. The decision provides relief to around 50.46 lakh central government employees and 68.27 lakh pensioners.
The DA increased from 58% to 60% of basic pay and the Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners also increased from 58% to 60%. As the increase in salaries and pensions will be effective from 01 January 2026.

After the 2% DA hike in 2026 the increase in salary will depends on the basic pay. Means if your basic salary is Rs. 30,000 then 2% hike means an increase of around Rs. 600 increased per month. Whereas the Dearness Allowance is calculated as a small percentage of the salary. If we talk about the pensioners, then their pension will in crease in the same way, means 2% of their basic salary.

The central government has not disclosed the date for releasing the pending 2% DA hike.
